No Luck Avoiding the Unavoidable Appointment

Aeschylus heard a prophesy that he didn't like. It said that he would be killed by a falling object.

So, Aeschylus began avoiding buildings. He stayed away from areas that had roofs, tall structures or even forested areas that might harbor a tree limb that would be his doom.

He kept to outside, open-sky areas in an effort to avert his prophesied doom.

He was killed by a tortoise dropped by an eagle.

The eagle mistook his bald head for a rock suitable for shattering the shell of the turtle.

No matter how clever a person is, no matter what clever strategies they employ, there are certain future events that cannot be escaped.

Time would better spent preparing to meet the inevitable on good terms, rather than trying to avoid it.

"...it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment" Hebrews 9:27
