Adding Ministry to Sin Doesn't Erase It

It is odd how people say they hear God calling them to ministry but are deaf to God's call to forsake sin. Some talk much about being led into a ministry by the Spirit, but forget that the first name of the Spirit comes from God is "Holy."

If the Holy Spirit leads us anywhere, or fills us, wouldn't you think that the person being lead or filled would be more holy afterwards? I think that would be the whole point.

But instead of forsaking sin, some think that if they do more for God then God will overlook their sinful behavior.

It is true that we are to pursue good works, but adding good behavior won't do much for us if we continue to practice the old evil behavior.

Entering the ministry without exiting from sin does as much to clean the soul as adding soap to a mud pit. Soap is good, but it does not do much to remove the soil off those who continue to wallow in the mud pit.
