Should Correct Behavior for the Wrong Reason Be Overlooked?

Some mothers hate tattoos, but their kids get them anyway.

There is a verse in the Bible that may speak against tattoos, but this doesn't seem to phase many church attendees. There is some debate on this, but at least tattoos for mourning the dead were forbidden. Some feel that this applies to all tattoos. (Leviticus 19:28)

But now, it has been discovered that the new Apple Watch does not work well on a tattooed arm.

Suddenly, tattoos may be beginning to lose their appeal among the young and fashionable.

My question is this: If we disobey our parents to do something fashionable and if we also disobey the Bible to do something fashionable, but then we finally do what is right because the fashion has changed, and only because the fashion has changed, does this make it right?

Does doing the right thing for the wrong reason matter? Or should we wink at former indiscretions as long as we get the desired behavior? Does the intent of the heart make a difference?

Something to think about. We may have to ask ourselves the real reasons for our apparent good conduct. Most likely, if the truth were known, there would be little room for pride when we learned the true reasons for our own seemingly conduct, tattooless or otherwise..
