Kittens and Biscuits

"Just because the cat has her kittens in the oven doesn't make them biscuits"
I hear a guy from Maine say this today. He meant that it takes more than being transplanted to Maine to be a true part of their culture.

I think this saying expresses something true about being in a church as well. Being born and raised in one doesn't make a person a Christian any more than that oven makes those kittens biscuits. A relationship with Christ makes us Christians, not a building, or even an organization.
