Compromise is not always the best option.

Shouldn't this sign read: "NO SWIMMING?"

This list of cautionary points will be of little avail when the totally predictable and inevitable incident occurs. 

The best solution is to leave the watering hole entirely to the alligators, or to eject them and take full possession of it for our own species. 

Unless you wish to compromise and share.

The down side of that is that someone gets eaten and then the alligator that ate them will be destroyed. 

That is a pretty heavy price to pay for a bit of fun in the sun.

There is not a good compromise for every problem. Sometimes the best solution is this: All or Nothing
