Where to Look for that Next Promotion...

Don't walk around, looking around, for that next promotion.

Look up instead.

It is from God that true advancement comes, at least the kind that really matters.

"For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another." Psalm 75:6-7

Clever, Smart or Wise?

Clever is escaping from the tire boot.

Smart is paying the fine on time.

Wise is not getting the tickets in the first place.

Trophies for All, Hurt All

I know that school officials want all kids to feel good. But, they should know that their efforts to encourage everyone, regardless of merit, discourage students who have done the hard work to succeed.

Knowing how to deal with the bad feelings brought on by failure is actually an important life skill.  Kids who fail and feel bad may try harder to succeed. They may also give up and do something else.

Both are OK.

Succeeding in one endeavor is great, but not every path is for everybody. Failure, as well as success, helps students choose a better life direction. If kids never get any bad news, how will they make any course corrections?

Choose a Path, Choose a Destiny

You may choose a path to travel on, but you can't change the destination that is at the end of that path.

If you want a better destination, turn around and travel the true path that leads to a better place.

Most people fly or drive with a destination in mind before they embark. Somehow, most people are content to travel this life based on the path's appeal rather than where it will lead them.

Big mistake.

Skip Skipping Ahead if You Want to Get There

Awesome is found by going uphill slowly and in the right direction. But don't go too slow, or you might not get there before you die.

I have skipped ahead to get to awesome. When I do that, I end up somewhere south of it.

Not Clear on the Concept.

Thinking something is pointless doesn't make it so. A missing point often just means that the point was missed, not that it was non-existent. What we don't get often says more about us than the thing not got.
